Okay, talking about Kate Winslet, I feel kind of like a lame People magazine, stalker type. But she’s been in the news a lot lately (see long story short, below), and she has two new movies coming out that are going to be spectacular. (That’s sort of art & design related, isn’t it?)
LONG STORY SHORT: Kate Winslet says she has had weight problems and knows she’s not the skinniest actress. Vanity Fair did this hot shot of her naked. Everyone said she was airbrushed. She was not. (PS I think she’s beautiful and that everyone’s perception of overweight in Hollywood is completely distorted.)

Okay, enough with the gossip. The movies!
The Reader
co-star: Ralph Fiennes (also known as Voldemort)
director: Stephen Daldry
release date: December 10, 2008 (select theaters),
tag line: “Behind the mystery lies a truth that will make you question everything you know.”
plot: Post-WWII Germany. An affair. Kate Winslet’s character tried for war crimes.
Revolutionary Road
co-star: Leo DiCaprio
director: Sam Mendes (of American Beauty; also, her husband)
release date: December 26, 2008
tag line: “How do you break free without breaking apart?
plot: 1950s couple wants to escape from the conformity-inducing confines of everyday life
Now, go watch the trailers! I *hope* these are wonderful movies & that Kate Winslet finally gets an academy award after 8 5 nominations. BTW, if you want to see some Kate Winslet right now try these: Little Children, Finding Neverland, Quills (must have strong stomach).

Oh man, I loooove Kate Winslet. I think she’s one of the most brillient and beautiful actors alive. I love her movies, especially Quills. I’m excited for ‘The Reader’ too.
Great entry Maria!
THANK YOU! I know! I think she’s often overlooked (maybe because most people know her from TITANIC?!). I think she is one of the best actresses of today.
Also, she was rated Best Actress of 2008 by NY Magazine
