Cute Things for Valentine’s Day

Hey everybody ! As you may have seen in shops and tv ads, valentine’s day is coming up. To be honest, I’ve never really celebrated it, even when I have a boyfriend. All this cuty-lovey-dovey aspect is a bit too much for much. And anyway, no-one has ever given me a valentine’s day gift or card (and I survived !). But this year, I thought it could be a nice occasion to be creative, give to others and have fun. Whether you are in a relationship, wished you were in one or don’t even want to hear about it, Valentine’s Day 2010 IS going to be fun, with this über-cool list of things to do/buy/offer
- Mug and Tray. This super cute mug comes with a bonus tray, that you can use to keep your hot chocolate warm, or hold your marshmallows before you dip them in… A solitary Valentine’s Night doesn’t seem so sad aymore…
- Charm Set. A perfect (and simple) gift for your loved one. Keep one of the charm on offer the other. Of course, for you girls that means that you’ll have to find a boy willing to put a girly charm on his phone, but hey, I can’t do everything for you ! And if you’re a boy, well, be a man and do it.
- Poster. Because it’s a cutey-lovey holiday doesn’t mean you have to forget about design and art. This poster from the Design Museum is the ideal gift for a design nerd.
- Moo Cards ! Not only to that very hot guy you’ve been starring at all year during work, but also to your friends ; because you love them too, right ? This set of cards is so precious, I could send them to my tax collector too.
- Love Listography. Keep a detailed account of your love life in lists. Example : “Top Ten reasons I won’t date a musician again”
- Mini Hot Water Bottle. February 14th isn’t the warmer day of the year. With this hand-sized hot water bottle, waiting for your date won’t be that cold. Even if he arrives 30min late.
- Panda Notes. A lot nicer to look at than regular yellow stickies, don’t you think ?
- Valentine Bento. I just love bento-making and this one is just too kawaii ! Plus, not a lot of work here, just a bit of patience and good fingers. (And a rice mold for the big rice hearts). (Other very very cute bentos on this page)
Happy And you, what’s your plan for Valentine’s Day ?

DEAR STALKERS,
the way to Tricia’s heart involves an olivetti valentine typewriter. maybe a valentine’s day bento too.
love, tricia
And my GOODNESS OOKAH. Your list idea is fantastic. Maria and I have recently been discussing males who would make horrible boyfriends via chain gmails. This list extends beyond just musicians, and dare I say encompasses all creative types. aka writers, poets, etc.
Hahah Tricia I knew you would like that list idea. But I have to admit, I still have a soft spot for creative types. Just the idea that someone MIGHT write a song/play/masterpiece for me is sexy. That being said, no one ever has. But I’m an optimist !
OH. And to answer your question, my Valentine’s Day plans are currently eating a lot of asian food with a barista friend in NYC because it will be Lunar New Year. And probably handling mounting excitement for the next day’s tracy reese spring show attendance. woo fashion week!
And maybe drinking a lot of black, (decaf) coffee because I have a cold heart!
I hope you have better Valentine’s Day Plans!
It’s good to be an optimist. I’m convinced that creative types are bad news. Flaky and insecure. Maybe I’m more of a glass half empty person now, but as my dear friend, Patrick, once told me: “the real danger in dating writers and other creative types is that you run the risk of subjecting your personal moments to public expression.”
So you might get a song written to you, but it might be an unpleasant one. Like GIRLS (band), that is choke-fill of sad songs about how Laura broke his heart and how she ideally involves herself in relationships, even though she can never be in one. Because she’s too messed up. Uft. Done being a downer.
I LOVE VALENTINE’S DAY. This is likely because I am perpetually single and thus can celebrate with craft projects, chocolates, terrible music, & movies that are only vaguely about love. I can also wear pink, red, and hearts, and generally, on Feb 14, do so to great excess (note My Year in Outfits, Row 3, Outfit 13: http://tinyurl.com/72hdmb).
Next up: I LOVE LISTS. I have the originally LISTOGRAPHY BOOK and I love filling it out from time to time, and I also have a notebook exclusively for lists.
Well, my plans for Valentine’s Day are a bit messed up because my boy & I are moving out soon, so we’ll probably spend the day making boxes and calling frantically every ad for a flatshare around london… Not VERY romantic, but I’ll probably be too busy to notice !
hi there!
I love your designs! its sooooooooo CUTE!! ^^
